Birgejupmi Through Art & Duodji – London
The first gathering of the unique three-part Conference series 'Birgejupmi Through Art & Duodji' took place at the Crafts Council in London on 15 October 2025, in collaboration with Riddu Riđđu Festivála, Sámi allaskuvla, and Arctic Arts Summit. The programme featured two complementary sessions exploring Indigenous artistic methodologies, duodji, music, performing arts, healing, resilience, and cultural continuity, alongside discussions on ethical collecting, repatriation, Indigenous sovereignty, and Indigenous-led curatorial practices.
Together, the sessions created space for dialogue on the future of Indigenous cultural leadership and the role of artists in shaping cultural policy & future institutional practices.
