Our colleague and key BIRGEJUPMI WP5 partner, Ove Stødle, duojár and project leader of Mearrasiida and working in particular with Sea Sámi boat building traditions and with seal skin preparation and sowing. He had workshops on traditional uses of seal skin at Riddu Riđđu 2026 as a part of the project «Áhči aiti», which is a new gathering place on the Riddu festival grounds, where people can take part in craft activities, cooking, or simply stop by for a conversation and a moment to rest. The project is open-ended and will continue to evolve over time through new ideas, additions and practical solutions.
Ove was also developing a permanent site for duodji, focusing this year on knowledge about seals and sealskin, together with architect and artist Joar Nango and artist Geir Tore Holm. Through these activities, traditional knowledge becomes something lived, shared and continually renewed.
